We went to Mexico!
Earlier this month, before Covid-19 took over our lives, Jason and I had the opportunity to travel to Puerto Vallarta for the most incredible wedding! We spent 5 days soaking in the sun, taking a TON of pictures, and sipping one too many margaritas!
Here is a list of our favourite parts:
Kayaking! On the second day of our stay at the Grand Fiesta Americana, we went tandem kayaking. As avid canoe-ers, it was tricky to get used to the dual paddles, but overall, we had a really great time. It was really neat to be able to see the coast line & land from the water - super pretty!
Swimming in the ocean. I think we only went in the pool one time, for like 5 minutes - the rest of our swimming was done in the ocean. As a child, I failed ALL of my swimming lessons… I honestly hated it! It’s safe to say I am a terrible swimmer, but I absolutely LOVE the water!! I made an effort to swim in the ocean every day that we were in Mexico and I am so glad I did. The waves make it so much fun, and we saw quite a few fish and a TON of sea urchins!
The FOOD. The resort had over 8 restaurants (non of which needed reservations). We ate SO much good food - our daily routine was literally: breakfast, frozen drinks at our beach chairs, lunch at the seafood bar, more drinks at the beach, an afternoon snack on out balcony, & then dinner at one of the fancy restaurants. I mean… does it get better than that?!
Seeing the different species of birds. Though we don’t know what they were/the names of them, we thoroughly enjoyed watching the birds fly around, dive into the water for food, and rest on the rocks nearby.
Finally, THE WEDDING. Photographing a tropical wedding has been a dream of mine for some time now, and my goodness, Kristen and Corys wedding did not disappoint. Envision this: Wedding photos under tropical palm trees, an intimate rooftop ceremony at sunset, and a beach side party to end the night - perfect, right?! It was the most incredible day and I can’t wait to share photos!
Looking back, it is hard to say if we would have agreed to travel if we knew that the world would be on lock down only days after returning home, but hey, its hard to dwell on the past, right?!
Anyway, as of now, we have been self-isolated for one week in order to do our part and stop the spread of the virus. We have have one more week to go, and possibly even more if we test positive for corona virus. That means, our days are spent quietly at home together with our sweet dog buddy, catching up on work, cleaning and working projects around the house, and baking ALL of the bread. If anything, this has been a great opportunity for us to re-set our lives, re-charge, get some much needed rest, and RELAX. The quarantine has also brought on a TON of worry, but I don’t feel like writing about that right now - maybe later.
